On a recent trip to Boots I found myself lingering in a section I wouldn't usually pay much attention to: the No7 stand. Whilst the products I picked up are typical Spring beauty buys, the cold air has left my skin pretty dry recently and so I was on the hunt for a creamy blusher to add some glow back into my complexion. After swatching the highly pigmented shimmer palette and 'pop and glow' cream blusher I couldn't resist putting them in my basket - along with a few extras of course!
When it comes to buying drugstore lipsticks, I've always had a firm favourite. Rimmel do such a great range of lip products which all have a reliable long-lasting and pigmented formula. This is a range I always go back to when I enter Boots or Superdrug looking for a new lipstick - and this is definitely made evident by my ever growing stash of them in my makeup drawer. For this post I've picked my top five favourites from across their different collections - you can guarantee that at least one of these (if not all...) will be in my handbag at all times!
One of the best ways to get into the seasonal and festive spirit of this time of year is to team up a chunky knit scarf, plum lipstick and a deep burgundy nail varnish. Essie Sole Mate is one of my all time favourite nail varnishes, and is the only nail varnish you'll need this Autumn/Winter. The deep, rich, classic wine/off-black colour is one of the best I've come across and it's the only nail varnish I've been reaching for throughout October.
If there's one beauty product besides foundation which I like to invest in, it's mascara. A product which I use everyday and one which completes my look - whether it's a no makeup makeup look, or a dramatic smoky evening eye. I love to try out new mascaras, and over the years I've tried a lot of them. There's so many available in the beauty market to try out that it's not often I find a mascara which I'm likely to repurchase. There are a handful, however, which I absolutely love and have always trusted to go back to when I need a new one. In consideration of my favourites, I've narrowed this down to five which I have always repurchased as staples in my day time and evening makeup looks.
